Celebrate the 4th of July in style with our tips and tricks
We can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 4th of July than to decorate our Gorilla Carts as parade floats. We’ve chosen to show you our methods of attaching decorations to our GOR1000PS and our GOR-6PS. Our two themes are Under the Sea and All American. For information on how to build Stake Out Sides, seen on our All American cart, click here.
All-American Parade Float
We chose to use craft wire to attach our red, white, and blue bunting. Craft wire is highly malleable and is strong enough to hang even heavy decorations from the cart. Tulle is a great substitute for string, as it holds decorations in place better than small string.
For our giant firecracker, we took rolled up bubble wrap and taped it in a cylinder shape. You’ll want to make sure your decorations are light enough to wire effectively to your cart without falling off. After that, we glued paper to the cylinder with hot glue, and added some pinwheel and sparkle decor for the explosion.
Under the Sea Parade Float
For our coral, we used Great Stuff Window & Door Insulating Foam Sealant. While wearing gloves, spray out the foam in coral-like shapes on to wax paper, and let dry overnight. Paint them in aqua blue, seaweed green, and top off with some glitter for shine.
We wired dowels to the corners of the cart to hold up the sea creatures, seen on the right in the photo above.
Drill small holes through the tops of the dowels and string with fishing wire. Cut out fish body shapes, fins, and accent colors and glue together. Add some google eyes and string through, and you’ve got yourself some swimming friends!
For the jellyfish, we took paper lanterns and cut the bottoms out. Take tulle and ribbon and glue them to the inside. For a finishing touch, we glued a strip of streamer around the bottom of the jellyfish.
Add your favorite cynical octopus and an American flag, and you’re done!
Happy 4th of July from all of us at Gorilla Carts!
